Codebreakers Retreat
The Cliffs at Keowee Springs, Feb 24/25 2025
I want to take this opportunity to express why I am excited for our next event this February…
For those who attended our previous two events, this format/title will replace “Doctors 4” moving forward. Our goal is still to bring you up close and personal access to the top PhDs in our field, but to place an even greater emphasis on the group camaraderie, exploring concepts and sharing our experiences together. This is one of the main reasons we started our Substack; to further create and foster our community of curious coaches who are, like us, dissatisfied with the way coach education has always been done (sitting in a classroom for hours on end and passively receiving information).
This year is going to be special.
Sean Kennedy will be hosting us at one of the most incredible private golf and recreation communities in the country: The Cliffs. I’ve been fortunate to spend time while at Clemson and after graduation with Sean learning from him and group coaching at several of their 7 private clubs, and each time I leave blown away by the incredible service, membership, facilities, views, and the vibes in general. This year will be at The Springs, and more specifically at their newly opened clubhouse and learning center - which will be an incredible venue.
Back by popular demand, Dr. Mike Kay, PT, DPT joins us alongside Chris Walkey and Tony Greco. Together they make up Helix Golf Institute based out of Southern California. Their teamwork and coherent model of human movement through which they cue and train movement is well ahead of the curve. With their work with clients spanning from PGA/LPGA tour players, NCAA athletes, amateur and recreational golfers, their context-driven approach resonates with players and coaches in all areas of the game. Their clients’ accomplishments and their track record of injury rehabilitation and prevention speak for themselves and are impossible to ignore or deny.
New to Codebreakers this year: we are incredibly excited to bring you Dr. Raymond Prior. As a performance consultant, his clients include Olympic Gold Medalists, National Champions (team and individual), World Champions and countless NCAA All-Americans as well as NCAA Coach Of The Year award winners (the list goes on)… Author of “Golf Beneath The Surface”, Dr. Prior is revolutionizing the way we train psychological characteristics of high performance and how we conceptualize human behaviors such as nerves vs anxiety, sleep science, habits, motor learning, skill acquisition and the (seemingly) ever-elusive Flow State.
I believe we’ll find the common threads between the two approaches and how they complement each other truly fascinating, enlightening and in many ways: transformative.
Last but certainly not least… I am excited to spend time learning, laughing and hanging out with some of my best friends I’ve made through coaching. Mark Grace, Sean Kennedy and Garrett Chaussard are three of I believe to be not only the brightest minds in golf, but truly the best people I’ve been fortunate to spend time around. Not only have they improved my coaching, but they’ve influenced and inspired me in so many ways that have helped me to improve as a human being - which of course translates to improved coaching and playing of this game we all love.
I hope to see many of you this February, and please reach out if you have any questions…
Cheers,
Rob
